with pneumonia recently. She is 10 years old. Is this disease cureable?
What is the best thing we can do for her?

of the doctor who is treating your niece.

Could you please
tell me whether it is possible to diagnose downs syndrome at the intra-uterine
life(say 6 months) by ultra sound ?
Answer:
With modern technology
it is possible, to a certain extent, to diagnose if the fetus is down’s
or not. But it cannot be done using ultrasound. A technique called amniocentesis
(which does have its own risks) has to be used. It usually needs to be
done around the 13th or 14th week of pregnancy.

I have started working
now, after taking care my daughter for 3 years fully. I see changes in
her behaviour like she has become stubborn now. Also she gets fever and
cold every 10 days. How to increase immunity? Please advice. thanks &
regards
Answer:
What you are observing
as changes in your child’s behavior could be normal phenomena or could
be a reaction to the fact that you are no longer there to look after her.
As regards her cold & fever please refer to question
# 1-13, question # 2-10. Immunity
in a child against certain illnesses can be augmented by appropriate immunizations.
In general when a child gets an infection, the body produces antibodies
against that particular disease. This immunity stays in the body for a
limited period of time depending on the type of infection and the type
of body response.

This query is sent
on behalf of my sister's daughter who is aged 17. As a child she
used to walk properly but as she grew older she is unable to walk. Upon
consulting a doctor, he said that the problem is with her hips. The hips
are too weak to support the body. The doctor has confirmed that this
is not a polio case. Consequently she under went a surgery in her
legs suspecting that it could be some problem with her nerves. The surgeon
told us that she will be ok after sometime when the flesh of thighs become
strong. We are very anxious since this involves the life of our daughter
who is very intelligent and studious
I shall be very thankful to you if you
could please tell me
-
What
could be the problem?
-
Is it
not curable?
-
Which
hospital will be the best to treat her
-
Roughly
what will be cost of the treatment?
Thanking you and waiting to hear from you.
Answer:
It is very difficult
to guess what the your sister’s daughter is suffering from and without
knowing what she is having it is difficult to say if it is curable. We
would advise that you get the opinion from a physician, neurologist and
orthopedician and follow their advice.

My daughter is having
eczema and it's always around the neck.I've brought her to so many doctors
and it is only a temprory remedy. Pls advice
Answer:
Eczema is only a
broad term used to designate lesions in the skin that include exudation,
lichenification (thick, dry, scaly and coarse) and itching. From what you
say it is difficult to understand what type of eczema your daughter is
having. Many types of eczemas occur in children of which the most common
is atopic dermatitis. It usually causes a lot of itching and recurrences
are common. Spontaneous remission occurs in a proportion of children by
the age of 5 years and by the age of 13 in nearly half the patients. However
the best person to advise for your daughter would be the attending Pediatrician/Dermatologist,
who has examined your child.

Answer:
The 50th percentile of expected weight
